ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE [ALMOST]

“Yup, I’m ready to start trading again!”

T – one week and counting … weather here has been awful the last 8 – 12 weeks … sure, we had two hurricanes within 2 weeks and both were CAT 5, but every day but 2 or 3 since August has seen rain, more rain, high humidity, and no wind off the ocean; all-in-all, a miserable place to be if you’re outside or don’t have AC.

And, as if everybody didn’t know this anyway, you can kiss the “high season” goodbye for 2017-2018, as most islands of note are complete train wrecks; there simply isn’t any place to stay that will be repaired in time and there is zero entertainment, as most high-end restaurants haven’t even started to repair or try and reopen. That leaves Micky D’s, KFC, burger King, Church’s, etc. to please your taste buds after you travel a thousand miles … “yea, this I gotta see”.

I turn on the internet today and what do I see? Some 1.3 million people in the Northeast U.S. don’t have power … “well, welcome to the club … hope your utility is better than the quasi-government graft & corruption cesspools that infect the Caribbean … not only will you get power back quickly, your grandkids will probably graduate from college before most of the islands get power back to the poor natives who live on them. Of course, the monied interests have power & AC, and all the other comforts, but 99% of the ex-Pats who live here spend money, and that’s what counts … you natives are just kept barely alive for your votes on election day … after that, see ya … until the next election of course”.

Time for some Sangria with an orange twist [medicinal purposes only, of course] … every time I sit back and think how things are run down here, it makes the blood vessels in my head want to burst it’s so corrupt and insane. I’m outta here … until tomorrow mi amigos!
